The School of Authentic
Journalisma href="http://narconews.com/Issue67/article4278.html" target="_blank">http://narconews.com/Issue67/article4278.html>, hosted by the
Narco News Bulletina href="http://www.narconews.com/" target="_blank">http://www.narconews.com/> will take place in Central
Mexico from May 11 - 21, 2011. The School consists of ten days of
intensive training in central Mexico, covering topics that include video
production, investigative and online reporting, movement strategies for
journalists, and much more. This upcoming course will be the largest
iteration to date, with 40 students learning from 36 (or more) professors,
many of whom are graduates of the school since 2003. This session will
build upon the February 2010 school's work with intensive training in
production of viral video, investigative and online reporting as well as
deepening an understanding, as journalists and communicators, of the
strategic dynamics of the social movements and civil resistances that we
report. Courses will be taught in English or Spanish, with live
interpretation provided for all. A few of the many teachers that will be
present in May include; Al Giordanoa href="https://mail.ocasa.org.co/webmail/src/compose.php?send_to=narconews@gmail.com">mailto:narconews@gmail.com>, President
of the School of Authentic Journalism; Oscar
Oliveraa href="http://www.narconews.com/Issue34/article1049.html" target="_blank">http://www.narconews.com/Issue34/article1049.html>, key Bolivian
organizer of the city of Cochabamba's successful 2001 struggle to expel
Bechtel Corporation from control of its public water supply; and Janet
Cherrya href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e10n1AtA3rA" target="_blank">http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e10n1AtA3rA>, who helped end
apartheid in her land of South Africa by organizing with union and student
movements and the African National Congress.
