Semi-annual Virtual Forum of the Global Youth Anti-Corruption Network (tentative December 6, 2010)

Dear all GYACers -

It's time again! Half-year since Brussels and almost half-year to another face-to-face event! You must have been wondering what's going on with other network members? What are the highlights in the fight against corruption? What can you get involved?

All of these questions - AND MORE - will be part of the semi-annual GYAC Virtual Forum, planned for December 6, 2010. The Forum will be streamed live on the Internet. Among what we will present are:

  • Updates on the network and organization for the next events
  • Highlights from the International Anti-Corruption Conference in Bangkok, Thailand
  • Interesting global governance initiatives and opportunities of youth involvement

We are looking for YOUR own ideas of WHAT to include in this Forum. So tell us what you think!

Sounds great - let us know if we shall prepare some reports or information in advance. I am also wondering bout the technical environment - software to download and install, timing, etc.
hi linh,

i think we should also look back and review our agreements from brussels and update on these.

this early we should know who will have access to and difficulty in using internet-based platform, especially our brothers and sisters in Africa.
Dear Linh,

This sounds good. I think we have to share what wee have been doing in our countries since we left Brussels and in this regard we should have short reports as Rosen asks. What initiatives have we carried as far as ant corruption is concerned in our countries.

Again, we have to review the commitments we set in Brussels to the Task force and see what steps are we making ahead.

The challenge is with technology especially for us in Africa. I think you should help us communicating with WB country offices to see the possibility of connecting us all on the day through video Conference as it has always been..
Hi Linh Le,

I think is a wonderful initiative for the semi-annual GYAN Virtual Forum, which will take place in 6th December, 2010.This will also help us refkect on our meeting from Brussel and the way forward.
Technical in Ghana we have to contact software company to help our Ghana GYAN members get inform.I have a great team who can't wait to participat in the vitual forum.

Linh Le,

I have ask you the time for the virtual forum since all the GYACer coming from all our the world have different time zome.
Precisely because of the time zone differences, we didn't want to create video-conference connections with ALL GYAC members. We only want to connect those who will present and participate, THEN stream it online and have it available to view at other times by GYAC members. That way more people can view the Forum without too much hassles of dealing with different time zones and connectivity. Viva la Internet!
Linh
If that is the case, It will be fine for all to participate or bring their input.I see this initiative as aground breaking after Brussel.

Best regards

Linh, in practical terms shall each of us record what he(she) wants to say or you are going to invite people to do it in some way....
I think it would be best if everyone sends an update to a working group of 2-3 of the Brussels GYACers who could volunteer to compile and synthesize these updates into a short 10 - 15 minutes presentation, which will be part of the Forum. Who would volunteer to do so? I could help you create a reporting template.
Linh
I will volunteer to do so.. I will need your reporting template to get all the information to start ASAP.
Pardon me - 2-3 minutes or pages, you mean?

so 2 or 3 people will work together to compile and synthesize the reports and then make a 10-15 minutes presentation at the event.
