Paragraph 1- Issue

The issue is corruption in service delivery and governance. Young people are disproportionately affected by corruption in service delivery since they depend on these services in terms of education and opportunities to better their lives. These are exciting times for Kenya too. With the launch of the Huduma platform and Open data portal which, all presents the Kenya with limitless and in  most cases unfettered opportunities to access government data on governance, combat corruption and engage with service providers and demand  for better services. Unfortunately most Kenyan Youths are not aware of these platforms or do not utilize them.

Paragraph 2- What will the project Do, and Activities.

Create awareness of the existence of these platforms and encourage their utilization.

Activities:

Open Data cafes- Inviting young people in a coffee shop and have brief discussions on open data & HUDUMA and the promise it holds in the fight against corruption and move toward just& accountable governance and how they can utilize these platform.  For a cascade effect first participants will be drawn from the National Youth Council & other Youth Leaders.

 A Better Kenya in Your Hands  bus rides- Paying for a Bus ride in a Youth friendly bus(they usually have music and big screens) and take a few minutes to explain open data, HUDUMA and how they can use their phones to report corruption and demand better services. We will be paying for the bus ticket and as the passengers board the bus you them a bus ticket and a flyer, once full you take a few minutes discuss a few minute to Discuss HUDUMA Platform, stimulate a discussion and answer a few questions and you are off the bus.
