I am a bit confused as regards the registration. If I can remember well my law class at Makerere University. We can only register as limited by guarantee, since we are non profile. I don't know how the law in Kenya states. But my worry is, are we going to register in Kenya or somewhere else? I am just getting confused because I know the procedures for registering are quite hectic. Can't we ask the World Bank institute to shelter us throughout this conference. There, we would get headed letters from them to help us in searching for funders. It would also give the conference more authenticity and weight. Here, we could say the conference is being organized by the African Chapter of the Global Youth Anti- Corruption network, a project of the World Bank Institute. I believe every government on African continent will be willing to work with the World Bank institute, as well as NGO’s that’s why we need their backing.
Secondly, before we go for the conference, we need to show the guys at WB that we are serious, and that we have made a step after the Brussels forum. The question will be posed; what have we done since we attended the Brussels conference? That is why I propose that we should try to put up something. The cheapest thing we can do as a group is to create a Joint anti- Corruption Website. Where we can all shared information regarding Corruption on the African Continent. We should be able to do this before our November conference. This is very IMPORTANT; we need to show it at the conference as one of the projects we have taken. I WANT TO HEAR ALL YOUR IDEAS ON THIS.
As a journalist, I can help keep the web site updated with stories about corruption from other African countries which did not attend the Brussels forum. I think all of you have heard of what is happening in Zambia now; the Global Fund has suspended funding to the country because of corruption. Such is the information we need to share.
Designing and hosting a website is cheap. We should show the world that we not only attend conferences but that we also put into action what we learn from their. Let me hear all of you guys. If you give this project the nod, we can start designing our web-site.
I think it has been made clear and as you have said, the process of registering this stuff as for now is real hectic and I see to consume enough of our time before the said event of December. That is why I did suggest that all our dealings at the moment should be accommodated by the world bank institute and Pauline is making a follow up on this as she has unveiled it. Other processes will follow letter of where and how to register it
On your second paragraph, I think having an independent website is a fabulous idea but this sound to be a new project apart from our road to December. We real need it as an approval of our progress after the Brussels Forum but even the December event we are dealing with is one way of showing the WB that we did not had a tour in Brussels and here we are actively engaged.
This website in which we are connected under world bank still can surf ice to accommodate any matter/story and any body can see i for a whilet. So my idea is to limit ourselves to making the December event successfully happen.
