What curses Africa? It resources or peoples

Poverty, Hunger, Conflicts and Wars including HIV/AIDS are the things people of the World know about Africa. In recent years they know us because of football as the world cup would be hosted in the country of Nelson Mandela.

Why do we say the country of Nelson Mandela? If all the problems above keeping taking a toil on African peoples it is as a result of grave corruption and bad governance we notice in this rich continent. Our resources be them natural or human sometimes are referred to as curses not because they are actually such but because people say they are the sources of the strife and misery.

This is not true. The real curses in Africa are its people, not its resources. Because as a corrupt people, there is no way we can turn on the button of general interest against individual interest. It is also not true to say it is the African people who are the curses, but more true is the fact that it is just some few individuals in our countries within this continent who are actually the problem and curse...because of their attitudes and actions favouring corruption and promoting bad governance...

The issue of abuse of office and mismanagement of public funds was a major concern in West Africa during the 2006.  All the Governments of the sub region officially declared themselves committed to the fight against corruption or re-iterated their commitment to that effect at local and international fora. The reasons for such public commitments were multifaceted; eternal donor pressures, domestic civil society pressures, internal elite wrangling, and the adverse effects of frequent cases of scandals on governmental authority. Despite of their commitment and the establishment of anticorruption commissions in many West African countries, corruption is still a major factor that beyond the underdevelopment of many West African countries. Someone might argue that the establishment of the commissions is great effort but are these commissions really functioning for its set goals or are they really meeting the public expectations? My answer is no, because these commissions are not independence, they are still control by the same people or corrupt leaders.

Africa needs to accelerate more effort in the fight against corruption; corruption has begun the great impediment to the growth and development of Africa. Most of the social crisis that has taken place in Africa is due to bad governance in public administration.

Even corruption remains a major problem to the implementation of the MDGs by many West African countries; if we do a critical analysis in general, Africa is still a major challenge to the implementation and the achievement of the MDGs.
