Through the initiative of the Business Council for Africa, the Cameroonian company have formed a network to clean up the business climate in Cameroon.
Wednesday, February 16, 2011 in Yaounde, Cameroon branch of the Business Council for Africa (BCA) launched its private network against corruption in Cameroon, this initiative aims to assist the Government in its fight to eradicate of corruption in Cameroon, in partnership with the National Anti Corruption Commission (Conac).
Over 200 guests were present at the meeting that was punctuated by an exchange of experiences among participants. These include members of government, business leaders, businessmen, members of national and international NGOs and diplomats. The coalition, which initially consisted of twenty private companies (Guinness Cameroon, BAT CEMAC, Aes Sonel, among others) wants to get the most members.
The ceremony last Wednesday was held under the patronage of the Prime Minister. Philemon Yang was represented by Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Justice, Amadou Ali, accompanied by the Minister of Finance, Essimi Menye and Siegfried Etame Massoma, the Minister of Higher State Control. Effective action can not be done without the support of government, organizers have combined in their fight, the public authorities to fight against corruption such as the National Anti-Corruption Commission (Conac), but also anti-corruption cells in ministries, tax administration, customs, police and gendarmerie in particular.
Members of the government and bosses have signed a code of conduct and pledged to promote within their companies and administrations.
