Comment by Samundra Paudel on December 21, 2010 at 9:18am Youth civic engagement and youth participation in governance is important because youth form a large part of our society - according to the Nepalese definition of youth (ages 16 – 40) it is almost 40% of the population.
Therefore any development without their active engagement is incomplete and unsustainable. Being such a large segment, it is necessary not only to get their perspectives on social issues, but also for them to take ownership for common spaces and inspire others to contribute to social change.
For this it is important to participate youth civic issues as well as governance.
Comment by Wurie Mamadu Tamba Barrie on January 5, 2011 at 6:04pm I am please to be part of this group as Restless Development promote youth participation in Governance and civic education.
young people we give leadership to our leaders to govern us. we have what it takes to make thing work the way it should. We only need to syncronise our thought.
Most of us may aware of the Governance system recently onfolding in Africa and other part of the world. rigging, refusal to handover power, changing constitutions, perpetrating violence among youth people, exclusion of young people in active participation and holding key decision making body.
We need to coordinate our effort our effort with the other groups especially the GYAC Africa Group and the Task Force Members.
