Action For Social Rights (AfSoR)

Action For Social Rights (AfSoR) is a youth led voluntary human rights organization that advocates for the protection and promotion of social rights through effective coordination with{Civil society} like-minded organizations.

AfSoR envisage a society where all persons especially children and youths enjoy equal rights and opportunity for sustainable development.

AfSoR believe that with adequate protection and promotion of social rights economic and political stability will be realize.

AfSoR is a 100% voluntary organization.

AfSoR has carried out many activities since it reformation in 2007. among these activities or project are the World Water Day 2009 stand one of the out standing campaign organize... with no funds from any organizations or donor what so ever.

The 14 days campaign brings together Government, Civil society organization, water users, water provider journalist etc. The WWD 2009 campaign came from Transparency International Global Corruption Report 2008 that highlights corruption in Water Sector.

Upon returning from Brussels, Action For Social Rights host a press confrence to give feedback of actions what transpired in Brussells. Work Plan has been developed to fosters the notion and vision of GYAC into Sierra Leone context.

15th -22nd October 2010 Action For host series of activites to raised public awareneess on corruption, poverty, and handwashing with soap in schools and a seminar for young people.

I may confess that our attends to this youth Forum has equp our organisation and increase our motivation to mobilize youth in the fights against corruption in my community, Country, Sub-regional... and the World.

Our attendance to this summit is to learn from other organization and country on their fights against corruption and to share and show case our strides in the fights against corruption in water. Most importantly is to join hands in developing and explicit and tangible Action Plan that will eradication corruption in Water,Education, Health, Employment etc.

AfSoR as an organization is one of the youth organization that is championing advocacy on the convention on Economic Social and Cultural Rights in Sierra Leone. Our greatest challenge we are having is Funding.

AfSoR uses the following strategies to reach it target:-
Event Planning and Commemoration;
Research & Documentation;
Advocacy & Outreach

Employment
Health {Water & Sanitation}
Governance

Corruption is a root cause of under development in Africa and beyond. If every one change their mentality, then corruption will be curb. Corruption is all about Mentality & Perception, this resulted to the act of being corrupt or peoples' involvement in corrupt related matters or issues.

Lookint at the trend of corruption in West and that of Africa it is indeed distcin only those who has a craft eyes will see it. Funding and Aid giving to Africa are follow by the donor country expertise so to say that will be employed as expertrate with all facilities ranging from air ticket cut across to insurance which sum up to huge sum of the project fund. First and foremost, i believe since we have returned home from Brussls we should identify the key corruption issues affecting our various nations and continents. Let us be serious if voices are to be heard. In that light, we need to engage seriously base upon our thematics groups.
