I am a Cameroonian citizen of age 28, holder of a degree in Environmental Science. I am the Founder and President of Youth Alert (Youth for Positive Change). A youth organization in Cameroon created in 2004, we aim at engaging youth to tackle the problems that face them and their community. We bring awareness to youth on global issues, such as the respect of Human Rights, democracy and development. A remarkable project we carried out was the creation of human rights clubs in schools in the Southwest and Northwest regions of Cameroon. This provides an opportunity for students to gain knowledge about civic education which is not included in the school curriculum. Through seminars, training workshops and sensitization campaigns, we build the capacity of youth to affect positive change in their communities.
I am co-founder of Emergence Leaders Cameroon, a youth network in Cameroon aimed at providing leadership tools for youths. I have participated in several African youth seminars and conferences. I am a member and active participant of international youth networks such as TakingitGlobal (www.takingitglobal.org). I participated in the 2010 World Movement for Democracy Assembly on Solidarity Across Cultures as a winner of the Essay Competition, “Youth Speak Out: Engaging in Democracy and Grasping Opportunity.” I have 6 years of experience as a youth worker engaging youth into youth programs, organizations and networks.
