Michael McLean is a first-year Public Diplomacy student (MA International Relations and MS Public Relations) in the Maxwell and Newhouse schools of Syracuse University. He graduated magna cum laude from Syracuse University with a BA in International Relations in 2010. After completing a Boren Fellowship in Brazil for a year, he returned to Syracuse University for his graduate studies. Michael also lived in Brazil during high school for a year as a Rotary Youth Exchange Student and in college as a summer intern at the US Consulate in Rio de Janeiro, he is fluent in Portuguese and functional in Spanish. At Syracuse, Michael is a FLAS Fellow studying Hindi, a Friedman Scholar, and works as a graduate assistant for the University’s Office of Government and Community Relations. Upon graduating from the Public Diplomacy Program, Michael plans on joining the US Foreign Service.
