Climate change should be address without ignoring Human Rights. What comes First….Corruption creates Climate Change or Climate Change create Corruption…
Because there is a Big corruption in Carbon FinancingThe 3rd days of 14th IACC kicked off with wide discourse on various issues. The climate governance was one the most debatable and interesting topic which I have found today. Around 1000 people in the plenary took part in the discussion about the issues of climate change and its effects on the life of people specially marginalized and vulnerable group such as women, disable, and indigenous. Poor and Indigenous peoples face big climate problems but had no contribution to the cause. They are nothing to do with the cause of Climate Change but they are facing numerous problems associated with Climate Change. Their life is in risk.
For example, in Ghana, one of the indigenous communities has been forced to cut down or not to grow their Cocoa trees in their land. This land is use by REDD (Reduce Emission from Deforestation and Forest Degradation) Project. The question is to know what does these indigenous community gains from the REGG Program. Since the Cocoa production is the only source of income for them. Should we fight climate change by ignoring development and livelihood of those people? Or look into the fundamental life of such
community while addressing Climate Change and conversation of the environment. The climate-change poses to multifarious problem into human being. It displaces people from their identity. It creates tension
among the nations and community and disturbs equilibrium of the society. It causes poverty, hunger and conflict. In justice is born due to corruption. Their civilization has lost.
One of the participants has raised a issues during the plenary; corruption creates the problems like climate change and it’s again creating another problem by doing corruption in climate financing. Many developed countries enjoyed industrialized and feel pride to finance for cause of climate change. But the poor who always locked inside the cage of poverty induced by the corruption. The developed country is fully responsible to climate and they should be accountable to others.
The forest, water and many other natural resources sectors are most of the corrupted sectors. There has been massive corruption in Logging industries in the world. Both the private and public institution
involve in corruption in this sectors. The nature has a lot of wealth and they
just want to extract illegally.
Some of the key suggestions were given by the participants during the plenary and workshop sessions are as follows.
The Right Based approached should be applied while addressing Climate change and environmental problems
There should be strong as well as independent national institution to implement adaptation programs in country and promote the governance system within them.
Change the governance system because the current mechanism should not hold the accountability and transparency in the changing situation.
A strong political commitment is necessary to define national priorities and climate change strategy.
Governments should have a responsibility to educate both the public and private industry about these hazards.
